About Kurious Kids

A little note from Angie, for kids and grown-ups alike.

Hi there! 👋

Welcome to Kurious Kids! This whole place was made just for you — somewhere nice and cosy where you can do some word searches, go on choose-your-own-adventures, solve puzzles and use your brain for fun. You don't need to log in but you do need your adult to know that you are here. Now time to pick a game and play!

A note from Angie, for the grown-ups

Let me tell you why I made this website...

I kept noticing the same scene: kids at restaurant tables, glued to a phone, watching something loud, fast-paced and whiny — the moment a parent asks them to stop, or takes the device away, a tantrum follows. I wanted to build something: a digital resource that could sit in that same moment, with less chance of negatively impacting a child's nervous system.

Every part of this site was a deliberate choice: soft colours, visually appealing but also gentle on the eyes and the brain, nothing designed to overstimulate; no main characters as I believe attachments should be reserved for safe parents, not pixels. Familiar activities so kids can jump straight in. There are no dings, jingles or reward chimes; this is not a pokie machine for kids. As I am not interested in capitalising or monetising a child's attention span, there will be no ads or data collecting.

My priority is always to protect and preserve the nervous systems and mental capabilities of our beautiful young children.

As a millennial parent myself, I find it really easy to say "go play outside" or "use your imagination" — but today's world is so vastly different. So in the event a little screen time is granted, this site is here to gently supplement the imagination, outdoor play and real-world adventure.

Happy playing,
Angie
